I am being pestered by cough for almost three weeks now. I’ve been taking cough capsules (can’t take syrup…ugh.) for two days hoping it will expel the phlegm the way the ads said but all it’s doing is making my throat itchier, making me cough more.
That’s when I remembered an old fashioned cure that took care of my coughs before. I pop in my mouth a slightly-larger-than-a-pea-sized peeled ginger root. The taste takes some getting used to, but I know it will cure me in a day or two. If not, I’m going to see our doctor.
Tomorrow is my very first visit to an ob-gyne. She’s in the clinic 10AM-12PM Tuesdays, so I am taking the day off from work. Truth be told, I am nervous and scared.

Matt
I was a registered nurse for ~15 years (well I still am but I don’t do that for work anymore). You will be fine at the doctor, especially since it is a woman.
In my county they have Phil-fest every year at the Filipino cultural center. I always go for the good food they serve, I love the pancit and lumpia and I don’t eat a lot of seafood.
They some displays, and some other cultural exhibits, and they have an ampitheater at which they preform traditional dancing, show traditional clothing and make some presentations and things like that for entertainment.
Last year I had a good seat up towards the front, and one of the young women in the traditional outfits passed out. It was very warm and the heat got to her. A few people from the front rows went to help, as did I.
The master of ceremonies asked if there was a doctor or nurse that would come forward. About 8 radiologists, 6 OB-GYN, a few surgeons, a couple of opthomologists, a pulmonologist or two, as well as about 50 nurses all came forward and tried to get myself, the three other nurses and two physicians already there out of the way. I think one person was left sitting in the chairs.
I’m sure your doctor will be fantastic. If your cough has not stopped mention that to her as well.

A Phil-fest? Wow, there must be alot of Filipinos where you are. That traditional costume is something I will never want to wear during summers. Today, the temp went up to 35-37 degrees celsius.
I did not mention the cough, though. I’ll have our family doctor look at me if I don’t get better by weekend.
